It’s hard to say when James Bright & Leo Brothers became partners. It’s easy to say
that James
Bright
had the biggest influence and played a huge role in getting the Leo Bros.
started in
4-H
in the late
‘80’s and early ‘90’s.
James Bright started showing cattle in the 1970’s with Bright Bros. Hereford Ranch and remained the core of that successful program for 4 decades. Numerous National Champions and high quality cattle were a trademark for Bright Bros., and still to this day hold the record at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, Co. for the highest selling Hereford bull of all time.
Soon after Bright married Matt & Spencer’s mother, Cheryl, the boys became interested in showing steers. After that the rest was history and the boys along with their stepfather began to assemble a group of club calf cows. Looking back Matt recalls “since that first show we hit the ground running and haven’t looked back since”, both brothers young dreams of raising show steers and having sales soon became reality. Early on we were very active in the famous pen of three steer show at the Cow Palace. With a little luck we showed the Grand or Reserve Grand pen every year we exhibited cattle there.
Today, Spencer runs the day-to-day operations and arm wrestles James on breeding decisions. He also calves out cows, keeps them healthy and caters to clients. He stays involved with the showing industry by fitting calves and helping make other 4-H and FFA members dreams come true. In addition, they also run stocker cattle and have Hereford, Angus and Charolais herds with the ranch headquarters being located on the former Bright Bros. Hereford Ranch. Raising and selling club calves to fit all price ranges has been the goal of the operation and both, Spencer and James, strive to help out after the calf has been purchased. From feed to fitting tips, James Bright & Leo Bros. are committed to the end, please come by to visit anytime!
